A true public diplomacy ambassador

Nancy Snow - Facebook: "Meet this baby olinguito, a global public diplomat. The olinguito are

ambassadors for conservation of one of the most biodiverse regions in the world, the Andean cloud forest, a lesser known ecosystem to the Amazon rainforest." Image from entry.

JB Note: "I do .. recall a wonderful passage in Kenneth Osgood's book about propaganda during the Eisenhower administration, Total Cold War, when a US P2P group involved in canine matters with overseas interlocutors concluded that dogs were the best ambassadors."

I recall that in the 1960s Columbia's very successful PAO in Moscow was an olinguito. While not then recognized as a separate species, this particular olinguito, Alejandro, successfully navigated both the Khrushchev-Brezhnev transition and "Operation Marquetalia," major challenges to Columbian-Soviet relations.
