The Irony of Trump's Election Victory
The irony is that Trump was elected not because of a majority of the popular vote, but thanks to the electoral college -- which the Founders had established in part to prevent demagogues from becoming president of the United States ("Hamilton was also concerned about somebody unqualified, but with a talent for 'low intrigue, and the little arts of popularity', attaining high office").
