The Reluctant Propagandist -- Barack Obama

The press has been all over the Obama administration for its "propaganda" in its lead-up to the planned senseless US strikes against the Syria.

But in fact the Obama administration can't seem to follow the most elementary rule of propaganda -- bad or good -- in convincing Americans and the world why Cruise missiles will solve ethnic problems in a distant part of the world (from an American perspective) at a time when so many Americans can't find a decent job.

The essential prop-rule:

--Have one simplistic, "clear" message and repeat it all over again. Or, as George W. Bush put, "catapult the propaganda."

The Obama team is unable -- for political, possibly intellectual/moral, reasons? -- to do that.

Some, including this blogger, would say, "thank God." At least the message-confusion of this administration is made "transparent." Transparent confusion ...
