Fear and David Brooks

In his recent column for The New York Times (April 29), "An Era Defined by
Fear: The emotional tone underneath the political conflicts," scribbler/TV commentator D. Brooks repeats the word "fear" 28 times. This former police reporter -- now a mass medium guru who recently described his alpinist-like struggles up the second moral mountain -- is not only running out ideas:  he's clearly also running out words ... He thus ends his mundane April 29 NYT piece: "Fear comes in the night. But eventually you have to wake up in the morning, get out of bed and get stuff done." I doubt these sophomoric sentences will ever make it as an entry in a book of memorable quotations.
