Upcoming Panel Discussions in Washington: Public Diplomacy as a Global Phenonemon

PUBLIC DIPLOMACY AS A GLOBAL PHENOMENON: PLANNED PANEL DISCUSSIONS IN FALL 2013

Friends: FYI, Colleagues and I from the Public Diplomacy Council are in the process of organizing this Fall (one month at a time, starting in September) four one-hour panel discussions on "Public Diplomacy as a Global Phenomenon," focusing on how countries outside of the U.S. are using public diplomacy (PD), arguably an American term/activity coined during the Cold War. Plans are for senior members of embassies in Washington (from different regions, appearing three/four panelists per session) to discuss how they perceive PD, and to what extent, as they see it, the “American” term can define their outreach activities in the U.S. and the world. Questions from the audience will be an important part of the event. Meanwhile, check out items regularly posted at this blog pertaining to PD as a global phenomenon in anticipation of the "Public Diplomacy as a Global Event" panel discussions.
Best, John
