NEW MEDIA ABOUT RUSSIAN ART

Dear friends, We are glad to present you Russian Art Focus, a new online media founded by Inna Bazhenova (The Art Newspaper) and Dmitry Aksenov (The Aksenov Family Foundation). Starting from November 2018, a team of journalists, critics and researchers whose native language is English will create a free monthly magazine about the Russian art scene.

Russian Art Focus sees its mission as providing a professional, in-depth overview of the Russian art scene to foreign audiences, focusing on what is happening in Russian art today. There will be also occasional coverage of art beyond Russia.

In the 20th century, Russian artists gave birth to the glorious avant-garde modernist movement. Nowadays, Russia is not well integrated into the international art community and sales of contemporary Russian art are undeservedly low.

“There are of course exceptions and there are artists whose names are well-known beyond Russia’s borders, but it’s the trend that counts. That opens opportunities for international art lovers with imagination” – comments Richard Wallis, the Editor-in-Chief of Russian Art Focus.
