A joke (here slightly embellished) I heard while in Poland in the late 80s about the Warsaw Palace of Culture: American tourists (of course chewing gum and wearing hawaiian shirts à l'américaine, past century): First tourist, snapping pictures: "Gee,
ain't that building beauteeful...."
Second tourist, more nervously chewing than other members of his tour and adjusting his sunglasses, "Yeah, it's ok, but hey it's a little small ... Any way we can help these poor Polish people to improve their construction?"
